Delegates attending the Annual Meeting of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance will be guaranteed a memorable event in Montreal in 2024. The North American Chapter of ISoP, believes that Montreal’s rich history of academic excellence, research centers and experts, regulatory environment, and cultural diversity make it the ideal host city for the 2024 ISoP Annual Meeting.

The Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), just 25 minutes from downtown Montréal, handles all regular flights. In 2019, the Montréal-Trudeau Airport welcomed more than 20 million passengers, for a record year. With a total of daily 154 direct destinations, there were 36 domestic destinations, 30 U.S. destinations and 88 international destinations.
Business meetings and Conventions
- In 2021, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA)’s Country and City rankings listed Montréal as the top city in the Americas for hosting international association events.
- In 2021, Montréal ranked first in the Americas for hosting international conferences, with 65 international events, according to the 63rd edition of the Union of International Association’s (UIA) International Meeting Statistics Report.
- More than 16,000 hotel rooms are located within the downtown most known venues, including approximately 4,000 rooms that are directly accessible by RESO, Montréal’s underground pedestrian network.
- Montréal hosted 445 events in 2019 and 208 events in 2022.
Life Sciences
- Québec’s life sciences and health tech ecosystem is among the largest in North America; 80% of this ecosystem is based in Montréal.
- There are over 46,000 jobs and more than 1,000 companies in life sciences and health tech in private companies in Québec.
Some 50,000 university and college students are enrolled in life sciences and health tech-related programs in Greater Montréal. - In 2021, research spending in Québec’s hospitals totaled nearly $805M in 2021.

The City of Montreal
Montréal is home to over 120 festivals annually, many of which are world-class. It is not only home to the most celebrated hockey team in history (Les Canadiens de Montréal!), but the city hosted the Summer Olympics in 1976, and continues to welcome major events in tennis, car racing, running, cycling, swimming and more.
There are 64 museums in Montréal that attract over 5 million visitors annually. Montréal is home to the Space for Life, the largest natural sciences museum complex in Canada. Its five museums are the Biodome, the Biosphere, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium and the Planetarium.
Tourism
In 2019, Montréal welcomed 11.1 million tourists for a stay of one night or more out of a total of 29 million visitors (including day trips).
In 2022, the city’s hotel occupancy rate was 60.6%, with a peak of 72.4% from May to December. Montréal was named the safest city to travel to in North America: in 2023, ranking both the most popular destinations for travelers and their various safety measures.
Montréal was also named safest destination and best destination for women travelling solo in 2022.
